Nar Phu Trek and Semi Annapurna Circuit trekking, adventurous walks that lead you over two high passes of Manang valley, crossing first Kang-la at above 5,322 m, and the highest point of the adventure at Thorang-la 5,416 m.Both these high passes reward you with a breathtaking panorama of mountains from north Annapurna massive range of peaks, with Damodar Himal, Mt. Manaslu and Chulus include the Dhaulagiri range of mountains.

Nar Phu Trek and Semi Annapurna Circuit Trekking leads on world’s best adventure destination within the high north of Annapurna Himalaya around scenic Manang valley and then heading towards hidden Shangri-la of Nepal North Mid-West to Nar and Phu villages. Nar and Phu located in remote and isolated pockets of Manang and Annapurna areas, almost forgotten country which was closed to outside world for hundreds of years, which was opened since last two decades, an opportunity to explore the pristine and undisturbed areas in the perfect tranquil environment.

Nar Phu Trek and Semi Annapurna Circuit Trekking commence after a drive from Kathmandu to reach low warm areas of Lamjung district at Besisar, where walk follows the glacial Marysangdi River upstream. The Walk leads from low warm paddy fields to cooler alpine temperatures around green hills filled with lovely forest and past nice villages of Jagat-Chamje-Tal and Dharapani where air gets much cooler and fresh as our route leads at Kotto near Chame town. After Kotto where our trail diverts from the mainstream of Annapurna Circuit route heading towards hidden corners of Manang valley walking into a deep scenic gorge to reach our destination at remote Phu village.

With magnificent time exploring the time-lost villages and its old monasteries of Phu and Nar where a steep high climb leads above Kang-la pass to reach back at the main trail of Annapurna Circuit to Manang village and beyond to highest pass of the adventure at Thorang-la above 5,416 m. After crossing the scenic high pass along descend reaches you at Kaligandaki River valley at Jomsom, after visiting the holy temple of Muktinath with marvelous views of Nilgiri’s and Dhaulagiri peaks.

Jomsom a large and headquarter town of Mustang area located on old Trans-Himalayan Salt Trade Route of Nepal and Tibet, inhabited mostly by Thakali people the tribe of Kaligandaki River valley with Buddhism religion. Day 19: From Jomsom fly to Pokhara 860 m (22 minutes on air).

Day 20: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.

Day 21: Free day in Kathmandu for individual activities.

Day 22: International departure homeward bound.

The morning starts with a drive on tourist coach or smaller vehicle as group size for an overland journey that takes you away from Kathmandu valley, heading into low warmer areas with views of snowcapped mountains. The journey continues on busy main highway past farm villages and town heading towards Nepal Mid-West to reach at warmer areas of Lamjung district at Besisar town, as drive follows Masrsyangdi River upstream to reach our first overnight stop at small farm village at Syange.

From Syange village morning climb on leaving the river behind for some time as walk reaches a nice farm village of Jagat, and then walk leads on gradual winding up to Chamje to reach back at Masrsyangdi River.
After crossing heading into the forested area, with views of Annapurna and Manaslu range of peaks, as walk advance on wide path to nice village of Tal Besi, from here 2-3 hours of good walk to Dharapani village for overnight stop, Dharapani a nice village situated at the junction of Annapurna Circuit and Manaslu trekking trail.

After Dharapani walk leads on wide winding up trail within rhododendron and pine tree forest to reach at Bagachap and Danque, then with steep up to Timang village, where air gets cooler with more Buddhist culture from Dharapani onward, facing grand view of Mt. Manaslu 8,163m / 26,781ft. From Timang village a few hours walk takes you to Koto for an overnight stop.
This interesting village which is near to Chame town, a major and headquarter town of Manang district which includes Nar-Phu area also.

From Koto our route diverts from main Annapurna circuit trail for some days heading towards Nar & Phu villages, within hidden corners of Upper Manang and close to Tibet border around the country where herds of blue sheep and snow leopards dwells. Walk continues into narrow valley covered with pines and rhododendron trees, and then reaching at nice pasture fields with huts and sheds of cattle herders and then into a gorge created by Pisang Peak and Kang-guru Himal lower basin, walk carries on following Nar-Phu khola (stream) upstream to reach Dharma-Shala for first overnight stop on the new trail of Nar-Phu area.

Morning walk leads to the far north towards Phu village within the remote and isolated area of dry, arid landscapes, with chances of seeing some wildlife’s Blue Sheep’s, Snow Leopard, Musk deer’s and mountain goats. The walk continues reaching at Kyang for an overnight stop after an interesting day, Kyang with the dozen of farmhouses and of Tibetan lifestyle and culture in this wild surrounding.

Today, our destination to Phu village start the morning walk leading towards Phu Khola and following upstream for some time and then descending back to river again, and then a climb to reach a gorge valley, walking in gorge for some time and then leading up into a wide glacial valley with pasture lands ending at Phu village of strong Tibetan influence culture, traditions and religion.

Walk this morning leads to Phu Khola and then over a suspension bridge over Phu Khola (stream), after the bridge steep climb for few hours to reach a flat area with a gentle walk to Nar village for overnight. Narg-Gaon, in comparison to Phu, similar but much smaller due to its remoteness within a high altitude and much dry arid country located on route high Kang-la pass.

After Nar-Gaon walk heads to remote wilderness, away from human settlement for few days, an interesting walk for few hours then with short ups and downs in some rocky and arid path, passing cattle herders shelters and grazing field heading further west following Temdenzon khola in this wild surrounding with views of snow peaks and finally reaching at Kang la pass base for overnight camp at 4,530 meters altitude.

Starting early morning to cross Kang-la at an altitude of 5,322 meters, walk climbs higher on a steep slope for few hours with stunning views of Pisang Peak with Chulu Far East Peak, and then reaching the top of the pass with wonderful views of Annapurna massif mountain range, Chulu Peaks, Lamjung Himal and adjoining peaks of Annapurna range.

After exploring Nar and Phu village where Kangla pass separates the two high valleys of Manang, the morning walk is pleasant with downhill to Humde village with a small airstrip, from here reach Braga village and visit the monastery with ancient artifacts and statue of various Buddha with a mind-blowing panorama of the snow-capped mountains. After a wonderful time exploring the monastery, an hour walk leads to proper Manang village for overnight.

After an interesting time at main Manang village exploring its impressive houses enriched with culture and custom, morning walk leads towards on the main trail of Annapurna circuit towards Thorang-la with an overnight stop at Yak Kharka. Another Big Day! Of the great adventure, after having early breakfast where morning walk leads to long climb up to Thorang-la with a steep and winding trail to reach on top at Thorang La Pass above 5,416 m high. The highest spot the adventure, rewards you with super vista of landscapes and snowcapped peaks, and then taking a long descend to reach at Muktinath Temple premises with height of 3,800 m high for overnight stop in of its nice and cozy lodge, facing views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri’s peaks. Muktinath, a holy spot for both Hindu and Buddhist the word Muktinath means ‘the place for Nirvana or Liberation’.

After Muktinath, our adventure ends where drive leads to a big drop of 1,200 m towards Kaligandaki river valley, as exciting drive reaches at Jomsom after a few hours of the interesting ride. Jomsom a headquarter town of Mustang region with a small airstrip above Kaligandaki River. At Jomsom afternoon free to explore Thakali town and to witness its impressive culture of Tibetan Buddhism, quite similar to Manang villages.
Jomsom situated on old Trans Himalayan Salt and Caravan Trail of Nepal and Tibet which extends towards upper Mustang unto Tibet border at Karo-la pass.
