Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek, adventure on original route to high and scenic Khumbu areas within Everest region. This interesting quiet trekking trail almost has forgotten, due to the establishment of the airport in Lukla, where most of the trekkers and mountaineers fly in and out from Kathmandu to Lukla to start and end the walks. Classic Everest Base Camp Trekking, a quite special trip where you will be walking away from the mass flow of trekkers for a week, till the trail from Jiri joins near Phakding and Lukla heading towards Namche Bazaar and beyond to Everest Base Camp.

Starting marvelous adventure ‘Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek’ on original trail, as trekked by early explorer and mountaineers like Tenzing and Hillary made their conquest on top Mt. Everest in May 29th, 1953 using the same route. Drive follows away from Kathmandu heading east past nice farm villages and town of Charikot to reach at Jiri town, also known as Switzerland of Himalaya. Due to its beautiful scenery of green hills, valley and snow-capped peaks with charming villages and town.

As walk starts after a drive further from Jiri, and then heading ups and down crossing scenic passes covered with dense woodland to reach at Solu district. The southern area of Everest, enjoying overnight stops in lovely Sherpa villages of Sete-Junbesi and observing traditional life around interesting villages on route. The adventure continues heading towards Takshindo-la and Nunthala to reach Kharikhola where walk leads higher up to enter high Khumbu area of Everest, where mountains get closer as walk leads further north. With rest day and time for acclimatization at famous Namche Bazaar, where walk leads further north past beautiful Thyangboche, and its impressive monastery surrounded within green woodland and mountains.

The walk continues into an arid country on leaving behind green tree lines for glacier and mountains within an arctic zone to reach our final destination, at Everest Base Camp after overnights at Dingboche and Lobuche. At Everest base camp with exciting moments beneath world highest Mt. Everest overlooking close views of Khumbu Ice Falls and glaciers. Then walk leads to a climb up to scenic viewpoint Kalapathar the highest spot of the adventure above 5,545 m. From Kalapathar stunning panorama of high mountains with Everest at close distance, and then our wonderful adventure leads to Lukla for a scenic short flight back to Kathmandu after an amazing experience on Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek.

Day 02: Drive to Jiri 1,900 and to Shivalaya 1,770 m - 07 hrs journey.

Day 03: Trek to Bhandar (Chyangma) 2,195 m - 05 hrs.

Day 05: Trek to Junbesi 2,700 m via Lamjura-la 3,530 m -06 hrs.

Day 15: Trek to Everest BC 5,364 m and back to Gorakshep - 06 hrs.

Day 16: Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m trek to Pangboche 3,900m via Pheriche - 06 hrs.

Day 17: Trek to Namche Bazaar - 06 hrs.

Day 18: Trek to Lukla - 04 hrs.

Day 19: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.

Day 20: In Kathmandu free day with sightseeing tour.

Day 21: International departure homeward bound.

On reaching Kathmandu Airport, View Nepal Trek staff receives you for transfer to respective hotels around Kathmandu city. Jiri to Everest base camp trekking starts with an interesting overland drive to Jiri and to Shivalaya past towns and villages of Himalayan foothills and to lovely places of Dhulikhel and Chrikot. From Jiri drive continue drive heading east on winding dirt road to Shivalaya village for overnight stop a nice place on a green valley by the river.

From Shivalaya first day walk begins through farm villages and fields with short ups and downhill and into lovely forested area, as walk progress climbing to a small pass of Deurali, then downhill to Bhandar or Chyangma village for an overnight stop.

Morning walks through farm terraces, rural villages to reach Kenja village, a nice moderate size village, situated i beneath high hills of Lamjura and Pikey danda with views of Numbur peaks. From Kenja, a steep climb to Sete village for an overnight stop, from here onward air gets cooler.

Morning walk heads higher to Lamjura-la pass with a climb through lovely rhododendron, pines, and oak trees forest and through a small farm, on reaching Lamjura pass near a big stupa with few lodges. After a short break long descends into the forested area all the way to Toctoc, and then continue walking on a wide gradual winding trail to reach at Junbesi, a nice large Sherpa village with an interesting old monastery and high school built by Sir Edmund Hillary Trust.

After a pleasant overnight at Junbesi, morning walk on the winding path with the first glimpse of Mt. Everest and adjoining peaks of Khumbu area, walk downhill to a river, on crossing a bridge a short climb to Ringmo village for lunch. After Ringmo, a gradual climb into forested area of pines and rhododendron trees to reach at Takshindu hilltop a pass at 3,070 m.
The top decorated with Mani Stupa or chortens with views of Numbur, Kusum Kangguru, Thamersarkhu and Kantega peaks towards North. From here a long descend to Nunthala via Takshindo village and monastery; continue downhill into the forest to Nunthala village, also called Manidingma a large hill village with Rai and Sherpa communities.

From here temperature gets cooler getting closer to Khumbu / Everest area, morning walk with downhill to a bridge over Dudh Kosi River, crossing the river climb uphill to Jubing village, from here an hour uphill to Kharikhola, a large Sherpa and Magar village, after Khari-khola towards high ridge of Bupsa hill, crossing river with steep climb for an hour to Bupsa for overnight stop, located on a ridge offering grand views of rolling hills and valleys.

From Bupsa climb through forested area with much bird life of pheasant and magpie, walk carries on climbing above Kharte Dande at 3,880m leading higher above Dudh Kosi River, on reaching at Puiyan village for lunch, after Puiyan walk is moderate with view of Lukla town and the airstrip, the last leg of the walk descend to Surkhe village for overnight stop, Surkhe located just an hour below Lukla.

From Surkhe at Khumbu area, walk on a wide trail to reach Choplung village, where the trail from Lukla and Jiri joins, from here onward on popular route to Everest base camp, walk follows through many small villages and farmlands with a great scenery and then reaching at Phakding for overnight stop this village located by the Dudh Kosi (river)

After a nice morning, walk continues crossing bridges over Dudh Kosi River passing several interesting villages of Toc-Toc, Bhenkar and Monjo arriving at Sagarmatha National Park entrance gate, from here on the river bed for few hours and after the last bridge a steep uphill to Namche Bazaar, at Namche with facilities of good restaurant, pubs, cyber café, post office, and banks.

From Namche on a gradual scenic path with downhill to Imjatse river at Phunge-Tenga for lunch, and then uphill through rhododendron, pines, firs tree forest with views of snowcapped peaks.

Morning downhill walk for few hours over Imjatse River, after the bridge walk on an open country where tree lines fade for few short junipers and dwarf rhododendron bushes, uphill for a while to reach at Pangboche village at 3,900 meters. Last permanent village before Dingboche and beyond, from here a slow climb to Somara for lunch and then continue walking with the climb to Dingboche village for an overnight stop, located in Imjatse valley with the panorama of mountains.

After a great rest at Dingboche morning walk with steep climb for an hour commanding excellent views, and then on gentle trail to Thugla for lunch where Khumbu glacier melts into a raging river, here trail from Pheriche joins after a break a steep climb for an hour to Thulga pass, with stone memorials of unfortunate climbers who died climbing Mt. Everest, Lhotse and other high mountains. From here a nice pleasant walk brings to Lobuche for overnight stop. Another option excursion to Gokyo 5th Lake five to six hours of round trips, where you need to take pack lunch, walk leads to the base of Cho-Oyu world’s 6th highest mountain that straddles the border with Nepal / Tibet, offers views of Mt. Everest, Changtse and towering ice wall of Cho-Oyu.

Today reach the highlight of this adventure at Everest Base Camp, walk for few hours with a short steep climb in between over glacier and moraine, reaching Gorakshep, beneath Mt. Pumori and Kalapathar.
Walk continue to Everest Base Camp and then enjoy exciting views of massive Khumbu Ice Fall and glaciers, after an experience of a lifetime adventure heads back to Gorakshep for an overnight stop.

Morning adventure leads you on top Kalapathar above 5,545 meters highest point of the trip, few hours of strenuous climb rewards you with an incredible panorama of mountains and of Mt. Everest at close distance.
After catching breath-taking views descend to Gorakshep for breakfast and then continue to walk downhill to Pheriche within a windy valley for a possible lunch break and then walk to Pangboche village for an overnight stop.

Our return journey is more pleasant on losing heights every hour on downhill walks. Few ups to Thyangboche after the bridge and then back into green vegetation covered with tall trees all the way to Thyangboche Monastery.
After a refreshing stop at Thyangboche, walk leads to a descend reaching at Imjatse River. From here a steep climb for an hour to Sanasa, and then on gradual walks to reach at Namche Bazaar for an overnight stop.

Our last day walks lead you to downhill reaching at Dudh Kosi River. From here walk past Jorsalle to Sagarmatha National Park gate (Sagarmatha for Everest in Nepalese) and then to Monjo village, from here following the router to Phakding.
After Phakding few hour of good trek reaches you at Lukla, in Lukla enjoy the night with celebration among fellow trekkers and staff.
