Annapurna Poon Hill and Volunteer Services, a unique combination where you can marvel the beauty of Annapurna Himalaya with stunning sunrise along with Manaslu and Dhaulagiri mountain range, including wonderful social and volunteer services around Gorkha district at Bharpak village which is the main epicenter on 25 April 2015.

View Nepal has designed this marvelous trip so that you can enjoy the best of Nepal in a short period of 2 weeks with exciting activities, trekking on the mid hills in the shade of Annapurna Mountain with volunteer works. This fabulous journey Annapurna Poon Hill – Volunteer services starts and concludes at picturesque Pokhara, after a glorious time in the high scenic Poon Hill with a stunning sunrise over the majestic Himalayan range of Mountains.

Our journey continues on high hills of Gorkha at Bharpak where tremendous damages had taken place by a huge earthquake of 25th April and 12th May 2015. A beautiful area in the shade of Manaslu Himalayan range where traditional Gurung and Magar villages of Barpak and Lhaprak located, spending sometimes with much help and support that you can lend a hand during this short period of 3 to 4 days to rebuild some of the unfinished work. During your volunteer, you will have a chance to interact with local villagers, see their culture and see the real lifestyle of Gurung & Magar people.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour and trek preparation.

Day 03: Drive / Fly to Pokhara 820m (220 k.m - 06 hrs rides (30 mins by air).

Day 04: Drive to Nayapul and walk up to Ulleri village 1,680 m - 06 hrs.

Day 05 : Trek to Ghorepani 2,854 m - 04 hrs.

Day 06: Hike to Poon Hill 3,210 m and trek to Tadapani 2,680 m - 05 hrs.

Day 07: Trek to Landruk village 1,520 m via Ghandruk 1,930 m- 06 hrs.

Day 08: Walk to Dhampus village 1,540 -04 hrs and hour drive to Pokhara.

Day 09: Annapurna Poon Hill and Volunteer Services

Day 10 and 11: Volunteer Work and activities as per the Program.

Day 12: Drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 13: International departure homeward bound.

On arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, received by View Nepal Treks staff and guide and then transfer to your hotels. After checking into rooms and getting refreshed joining at meeting place for Poon Hill and Annapurna Panorama treks briefing with hotels, lodge on the route with do's and don’ts includes welcome dinner.

Today in Kathmandu preparation for the great trek, with last day to buy and hire gears required for the treks, for interested people can join in our half day tour around Kathmandu at places of great interest within world heritage sites. Afternoon free for Poon Hill and Annapurna Panorama trekking preparation where next morning exciting drive takes you to Nepal Mid-West Himalaya area.

Morning starts with drive on tourist coach or smaller vehicle as group size for overland journey that takes you away from Kathmandu valley, heading into low warmer areas with views of snowcapped mountains. As drive continues on busy main highway past farm villages and town then heading Nepal Mid-West to reach at scenic Pokhara city. At Pokhara transfer to nice hotels by the serene lake Phewa with views of Annapurna and Manaslu mountain range with towering peaks of Machhapuchare ‘Fish Tail’. (Options by air 30 minutes of scenic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara)

Starting with few hour drive from scenic Pokhara with marvelous views of Annapurna Himal and Machhapuchare peaks 'Fish Tail', as journey leads beyond Pokhara valley to start our first day walk. Drive continues with super views of Annapurna and through farm villages and towns, then reaching at Nayapul and Bhirethati a charming village located by the Modi River, where walk begins heading with slow climb past farm villages and overlooking cascading waterfalls. As trek continues on slow winding trail with uphill to reach at Tirkhedhunga with beautiful waterfalls after a short rest. Our route leads to a climb on nice paved stone steps to reach a \ high lovely Ulleri, a large typical hill village, inhabited mostly by Gurung and Magar tribes houses built with thatched and slated roofs offering views of Machhapuchare Himal with Annapurna South and Huinchuli peaks.

Our second-day walk takes you to our main highlight of the trek, a shorter walks today on a gradual up and winding trail to reach Ghorepani, where trek takes you into enchanting alpine woodland lined with rhododendron and pine trees. In springtime, the hills and valley around this scenic region will be alive and beautiful when rhododendron and other wild-flowers are in full bloom. After a nice pleasant walk reaching at Ghorepani, where next early morning hike takes you at Poon Hill. Ghorepani village populated by Poon-Magar people the tribe of Nepal Mid and Far West Himalaya, an ethnic hill tribe of Nepal famous as Gorkha soldiers in UK-India and other foreign countries. This popular village with many good lodges in the shade of marvelous views of Dhaulagiri-Tukuche-Nilgiri’s and Annapurna Himalaya peaks.

Early morning before breakfast, hike for an hour on top scenic Poon Hill situated at 3,210 m the highest point of the trek. From Poon Hill catch striking sunrise views of panorama of mountains which includes Dhaulagiri-Tukuche-Nilgiri’s-Annapurna Fang (Vara Shikar) Annapurna range of peaks with majestic Machhapuchare Himal 'Fish Tail' the unclimbed and virgin peaks of Himalaya. View includes Mt. Manaslu with Lamjung extending towards Ganesh Himal duespringtime east horizon, after a marvelous photo session head back to Ghorepani for breakfast and carry on trekking uphill into beautiful woods of rhododendron trees with views of mountains. Finally walk descends to reach a gorge at another Bhanthati with lodges and then up at Tadapani in the middle of a coolsecond-day lovely forest facing grand views of Annapurna Himalaya.

Another nice and scenic morning with views of Annapurna Himalayan peaks from Tadapani, from here walk leads to a long descend to Ghandruk village, with the possible lunch stop in this large and beautiful Gurung village afternoon time to explore and visit its small native museum. From Ghandruk downhill on stone steps to Modi River gorge, and then climb for another hour all the way to Landruk village facing grand views of Annapurna South and Huinchuli. At Landruk for last overnight stop in the hills of Annapurna Himalaya.

From Landruk village morning walk on the gradual trail with few short ups and down, past Tolka and Bheda Kharka farm villages, with an hour climb into a cool forest to reach the high spot at Deurali offers grand views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Huinchuli, and Mt. Machhapuchare. From Deurali downhill through the forested area to reach at Potana village, and from here our last day walk of this short adventure takes you downhill to a scenic ridge at Dhampus village overlooking panorama of Annapurna-Manaslu-Lamjung with Machhapuchare Himal. On reaching at Dhampus with fantastic views, and then a short drive takes you back at Pokhara after a great and wonderful time up in high mountains.

Morning taking a drive on Pokhara / Kathmandu highway for few hours and then our route diverts north-west towards old Gorkha town (early home and kingdom of late Shah kings and monarch) from here continue drive the end of the driving road to reach our project area at Bharpak. A large village located on a hill at 2,00 m high with grand views of Manaslu mountain range towards North.

Bharpak and Laprak was the main epicenter of 25th April & 12th May earthquake that destroyed the villages and surrounding areas. Heavy damaged took place with many death tolls as well where villagers are still living in temporary shelters. The village life is slowly returning back to normal life and daily activities with some help and support from Government and private sectors. However much work to be done with lack of manpower in rebuilding some of the unfinished work building houses-schools and broken trails. Our guide and head person of the village will inform and brief you of local culture and traditions along with help needed to build most of the houses and walking trails. Start the morning volunteer program helping as much to rebuild the shattered village during 3 days time, its farm houses-schools and broken trails our guide and village head person will lead you to volunteer sites. Starting after breakfast joining hand in hand with the locals laying stones and bricks working for few hours till lunch and then carry on till late afternoon, completing some of the important works for the day. Next 2 days carry on with daily routine in rebuilding places of destruction from houses-schools-path including maintaining water supply to the village.

Morning a warm farewell from the village people with gratefulness and thanking you for your immense help and support volunteering for the cause and purpose, on leaving the village you will be glad that your visit to Nepal was worth-while.
